Over a ten year period The Vincent Wildlife Trust undertook a number of winter and summer surveys along the west coast of Ireland in pursuit of the Lesser Horseshoe Bat. A range of structures were searched, both natural and man-made, resulting in the recording of over 8,000 bats. The long term benefit of this work was the acquisition by the Trust of seven of the bat roosts and the subsequent enhancement of these: by 2011 these sites held 1,529 bats. This publication provides a background to the species, describes the surveys, presents the results, and makes conservation recommendations.
